"For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic provided cover from much in the way of public scrutiny of real estate development proposals, a local official has brought the long-absent attribute of integrity to the equation of effectively managing growth.

Until now there has been little serious analysis and review of associated substantial impacts on local infrastructure, protection services and natural resources (water, wildlife), and the substantial expense of mitigation.

Officials have eagerly accommodated a profit-privatized, risk-socialized approach, significantly increasing profits for real estate development interests by attaching an overwhelming majority of these massive future-unfunded liabilities to taxpayers, many of them already struggling under a cloud of financial insecurity as a consequence of the toxic gentrification of our fair valley.

In supporting an elected official to represent all of us in the upcoming Democratic primary, I believe it is best for Lindsay Mollineaux to eloquently speak for herself, her voice music to my ears after years of the monotonous drumbeat of malignant growth.

“These are major projects that concern millions of dollars of taxpayer money,” she said in a previous story in the Idaho Mountain Express. “It’s exactly in these kind of discussions that the burden is really on the elected officials to explain and educate so that the entire community understands what is being considered and what is at stake. These effects ripple for a generation, so I want them to be made thoughtfully. That takes time and information.”

Yes, time. Time for responsible leadership. Time to vote "Mollineaux" for Blaine County commissioner.

"Lindsay for county commissioner is the answer for Blaine County’s leadership, fiduciary wellness and integrity. Vote early or by May 21 for this unusually interesting election. I worked with Lindsay for four years as the chairman of a local nonprofit while she was the executive director.

Lindsay embraced the organization's mission, which encourages the next generation to care for our local environment through education and service. In embracing that mission, she hired a team and coached them to reach their goals for the community. She is a big thinker who asks pertinent questions, stays focused on the goals and does not get sucked sideways.

Lindsay wasn’t afraid to say “no” to me, the chair, her boss, when it came to adding programs without revenues. She was, however, always excited to expand the organization’s reach as long as it was funded. To this end, Lindsay doubled the organization’s revenues by utilizing her wealth of knowledge about federal funding, learned during her time at the mayor’s office of the city of New York. This enabled us to expand our service to the youth of our community during the critical time of the pandemic.

Also, her dedication to our community was made evident to me when, during her transition to county commissioner, she stayed with our organization as the executive director to maintain cohesion until the board was able to find a new director. To do this, she put the majority of her salary, on her own volition, toward hiring an operations manager to enable success for the organization and its participants. On top of that, she donated most of that reduced salary back to the organization! Who would do that? Lindsay is an individual with a unique level of integrity.

I am enthusiastically voting for Lindsay Mollineaux for county commissioner during the primary on May 21. Regardless of how you are registered to vote, ask for the Democratic primary ballot on May 21 and join me in voting for Lindsay. Thank you for taking the time to vote and participate in our local county politics."

"Lindsay Mollineaux has been an effective, transparent and practical leader. As a co-founder of the Environmental Resource Center in 1993, I have worked closely with every ERC executive director. Lindsay has done a great job for the organization. She worked to build an organizational reputation for combining collaboration and capacity-building and produced real, practical action on the most pressing environmental problems the local community faces. Working with Lindsay in the office and out in our beautiful natural areas was always fun and interesting as she was enthusiastic, open to the suggestions of others and thoughtful. Lindsay has the experience, education and appreciation for our quality of life, our wildlife, our open spaces and our finances and is standing up for all of us to protect our future.

"Lindsay Mollineaux cannot be bought, and she cannot be used as a tool by the forces that control the Democratic Party in Blaine County. She makes decisions based on what is in the best interests of the community, not a special interest group. The very fact that the Democratic Party is running a challenger against her tells you all you need to know—that she works for you, not for them."

Perry Boyle

"Lindsay has the depth of experience, commitment, intellectual heft and strong backbone that we need now. We need a true leader with the intelligence and conviction to ask the tough questions and stand up for us all to protect the character and resources of what makes this place special. Our quality of place is under threat and Lindsay is the leader to right the ship, to bring a spotlight to make the tough calls and ensure fiscal responsibility and effective management, and to stand arm and arm with us so that together we can build a better Blaine County."
